In the sea of cynicism, a lone patriot remains true to heart.

Hmm, incoherent musings, as MrMayat would say.
I was looking up on Anime Nano one day, and chanced upon tj_han’s article. He wrote a very long piece of non-pictorial article about sustainability, and I took the chance to reply in kind. For the first time, though, I wrote something that’s very long and somewhat intellectual on a blog that’s largely anime-based. Funny how my brain works.
With thanks to shia of The Bonkurasu Brigade, an event to complement the STCC: A Certain Magical Event (A.C.M.E.), hosted by KKnM in conjunction with their annual CharaFest. I’m very interested to see how the local doujin artists fare (as seen here) so I might be heading down to take a look. Also, I’ve not spend a single dime on anime goods since… Mein Gott! I don’t even know when was the last time, either!
I took the chance to watch Canaan for its three episodes. My conclusion is: either the ditz-who-shares-a-similar-name-with-a-porn-actress will turn a Holy Jesus Christ on the show (i.e. she dies and saves everyone) or Canaan becomes a Ryougi Shiki ex Machina. I dunno, the show gave me that Eden of the East vibe — in reverse: instead of Maki, we get Mino. Instead of obscure Western films, I get diatribes about “the philosophy of photography.” It also has a bit of sexual deviancy (in EoTE, you got that Johnny-mutilator; here, you have a girl that shoots at Cummings with her airsoft gun, and he likes it).
It’s a good show, mind you. It keeps you on the suspense. It doesn’t bore me like the rest of the anime summer season line-ups (only because I’ve yet to complete my backlog), there’s plenty of Nasu niceness. It’s a bit of a stretch whether this is a transcedental anime show – if only because I dig girls with guns (yet I find myself cringing at Gunslinger Girls) – because Canaan is the pit-stop for me, a resting place for me to venture out into the city called “2009 Anime Summer Season.”
Lol, fanarts are the best when they take liberal takes on things.

Hmmm… what did I remembered last weekend…?
 That ain't me.
Nice artworks... Damn I have no spare money already!
 Where art thou, Mysctea?
Picturebooks for sale. For the non-anime viewers, think of it as FHM, 2D style. (Others: "BOO!")
The Wall of Photog: Add +50 Defense, +50 Charm and -100 Patience.
I'll counter your attack with... MY NIKON!
 ZETTAI RYOUIKI!
OK that’s enough.

I’m sorry guys. The rest of the world have already done their Cosfest 2009 pictures, and are eagerly anticipating the Daicon coverage. (Idiot Setsuna! You’re supposed to drink it off the bottle itself, not through the straw!)
Reasons (or excuses) are as follows:
1. I’ve already done CosFest Day One pictures, but by the time I am done with them, I realized that the output JPEGs are so horrendously off-cast compared to my RAWs. I’m seriously wanting to ditch my AL1916W in favour of the Dell 2209WA If anyone has any good ideas on a better IPS panel (not the common TN panels), please do comment.
2. I had to do household chores for the weekend, as my family went up North for a retreat. That means house maintenance and duties, leaving me with only up to 12 am to touch my Day 2 pictures.
3. After looking at MrMayat’s photos of both Days One and Two, my immediate reaction was to °|¯|_ . This is for just a small-scale event, what more the big ones. (Yes, your pictures are epic, MrMayat.)
I’ll try to do more photo editing once I get back tonight from work. I’ll leave you guys with my half-baked attempt at doing a panorama shot. I spotted 4 inconsistencies with this shot as it was done hurriedly using the Photoshop Photmerge function default settings. Could you spot others? (Pictures after the break — big-ass panorama shot.) My last events outing was from the StreetFest at *scape Youth Park back on the 13th of June. Since then, my motivation has dried up significantly for reasons I can only blame on my biorhythms for the lack of passion. With money dried up due to Bad Financial Crisis (a private matter, to be precise), I cancelled my plan to attend Daicon in Malaysia. The next best outing for me will be CosFest 2009.
For the upcoming event this Saturday, I am renting a 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens and a Speedlite 580 EXII. I’ve been eyeing on the 17-55mm lens for quite some time — not to mention other photographers have “haunting” me to get this one — and testing this lens out for the event seemed perfect to try.
I’ll be collecting them on Friday evening.

I’m at a loss for words here. I best describe myself as agitated and confused, without aim or purpose in life. Hence, no updates.
The lull in my own updates has gotta do with the recent drop in finances. At the moment, I’m saving up money for education later in life, setting aside half of my salary for it. I can’t change the CPF contributions – this mandatory savings scheme is meant for my use when I am 65 years of age. Such is the will of the Government in its mistrust for its people’s ability to exercise their savings ability.
